Cheetah3
With the addition of capabilities for climbing Cheetah 3 can now bounce and move over rough terrain, climbing stairs, covered with obstacles, and restores equilibrium quickly, if it is pressed or hit. The bot weighs about 90 pounds-weight, comparable with a Labrador. The bot replaces the eye with the ability to "feel" their way around the environment using "blind" movements, similar to the way you move in the dark room.
Researchers say the Visual systems may not always be accurate or available, so rely on tactile information to allow the bot to be faster. The fantastic vision of a Cheetah 3 will be presented in October at a Conference for intelligent robots. Together with the "movement of the blind" researchers will show improvements and hardware for robots.
This enhanced hardware gives the bot is extended range of motion compared to previous generations. This allows him to move back and forth and rotated from one party to another. Part of the reason why 3 is adept in Sheetah movements without visible, comes from new algorithms that the team had developed.
One of the algorithms is to detect contact, and the other is the algorithm for management of the model for predicting. The first allows the bot to determine when is the best time to jump in the air or to remain on Earth. This allows him to react differently when stepped on a big rock or a small twig. Other algorithms can calculate the subtle movements of the body and legs of the robot.
