Robots conquer space
According to One Defense androids of FEDOR will travel the ucav Soyuz spacecraft not as cargo, but as members of the crew. The space agency Roskosmos report that the flight has received prior approval.
FEDOR, short for Final Demonstration Experimental Research Object, is a program by 2014, which aims to create a robot able to replace people during situations of high risk such as rescue missions. Androids have a number of human skills, such as ability to driving, pushing, lifting weights and guess-is-gunning. With such impressive features, the former Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Darling had to reject the idea that Russia "creates terminators."
With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, question whether it will be used for good or bad intentions, is always on the agenda, but Darling assures that FEDOR will have "great practical importance in different fields". Which is pretty broad and nekonkretno definition.
